Slush Machine Maintenance

Professional Care & Maintenance for Your Slush Machine

Ensuring your slush equipment stays in top condition is essential if you want reliable performance, peak efficiency and long-lasting results from your investment. With proper routine care, you’ll reduce breakdowns, maintain drink quality and get the most life out of every component inside your machine.

Weekly Cleaning & Service Routine

Regular cleaning prevents build-up of syrup residues and keeps seals and moving parts in good order. Aim to perform the following once a week — or sooner if your machine has served more than 500 drinks:

Weekly Checklist

  • Rinse and wash all internal surfaces

  • Lubricate the 3 seals

  • Clean the condenser area

  • Inspect wear-and-tear components

Note: rubber seals and gaskets should be replaced annually as part of normal maintenance.

How to Clean Your Slush Machine

Follow these steps to thoroughly clean and reassemble your equipment:

  1. Switch off the machine and drain remaining slush.

  2. Fill the tanks with warm water and mild detergent (optional), then drain.

  3. Repeat with fresh water to rinse clean.

  4. Disconnect power, then remove tank lids and wipe them clean.

  5. Dissemble the tap handles by sliding off the attaching pins. Remove the tap seal.
  6. Remove the  slush tanks and slide off the agitator spirals.

  7. Pull out rear tank seals and drive shaft seals.

  8. Wash all components in warm soapy water, rinse and air-dry.

  9. Re-lubricate tank seals, tap seals and shaft seals with food-safe grease.

  10. Refit the seals and agitator in reverse order.

  11. Replace the tank and secure lids before turning the machine back on.

Taking Care of the Condenser & Compressor

The compressor is one of the most expensive parts to repair or replace, so good airflow is vital. Always position the machine with at least 15 cm of clearance on all sides and never block vents.

Dust and grease collect quickly on the condenser, which sits inside the left side panel. Remove this panel regularly and use a soft brush or vacuum to clear away debris — this helps maintain efficient cooling and prevents freeze issues.

Common Faults & Simple Fixes

Some issues can be easily prevented or resolved with routine maintenance:

  • Leaks: usually caused by dirty, worn or misaligned seals. Regular cleaning and lubrication restores proper sealing.

  • Mix not freezing: often due to blocked airflow or incorrect syrup-to-water ratios. Make sure the condenser is clean and there’s adequate space around the machine.

  • Unusual noises: clicking or knocking sounds, especially on a new machine, are normal as temperatures adjust and the thermostat regulates.

With consistent care and correct cleaning practices, your slush machine will operate smoothly, freeze efficiently and deliver high quality drinks day after day.
